See? Much cheaper for a single person, and you get to enjoy 4 whole days. By the way, tell your free-loading girlfriend to get a job. I dumped her, she didnt have the work ethic necessary to be capable of having a meaningful relationship, I'm sure your spouse paid for her engagement ring and wedding band (because you would never wed a freeloader right? assuming you are married). Regardless, it still cost me more than 795 bucks and in the end I came away with nothing more than the memory of the experience. Kind of like coming away with nothing more than the memory of an experience of test driving a list of exotics that few short of p-diddy or Jay Leno will ever see driving time in during one day, much less a lifetime. No where does it say you have to "rag" the cars, and if the car runs and performs to spec, who cares what previous drivers have done to it or what repairs it has undertaken? If it is a piece f shit aesthetically then the appeal of the car will be diminished and the company that offers this "service" will be losing its competitive edge and therefore, business. You arent going to rely on it to get you to your best friends wedding are you? You aren't going to be looking to resell it later at Barrett Jackson are you? No, totally irrelevant. The cars are serving one purpose; to perform at their designed level and give you the experience of driving them at that level. To expect anything else from a machine is a manifestation of one's own desires, insecurities, condescention......whatever. The deal is not to get you lifted into a higher social class in life, it isnt to get you accepted into the inner circles of Bentley owners, to get you rubbing elbows with ferrari club members, it gets you the intangible inquantifiable visceral experience of driving these cars, which means something wholly different to Farmer Joe than it does to Michael Shumacher. Now, you drive the car and it is firing on half its cylinders, smokes like a factory, and is missing half its gears.....well then you have a failure to deliver....a breach of a business agreement....bait and switch. Something totally different. So people who don't blow a grand on some rental cars aren't well rounded? Your argument is getting more valid by the second. New refute, same fallacy. Let me spell it out for you. Just because 2+2 doesnt = 6 and 4+4 doesnt = 6, does not mean that 2+2 = 4+4. Clearer? No one said you had to go to jail to learn how to be a law abiding citizen, no one said you had to double cross everyone you ever meet in order to learn how to be honest. The point is that people enjoy doing less than sensible things, sometimes irrational spending decisions are made to bring people these enjoyments in their lives. Doesnt mean you have to be the most decadent person ever to have fun and to get life enriching experiences, and it also doesnt mean that Mr. Spocks of the world cant look back on things and smile either, but to automatically claim that students who spend $795 to drive some serious automobiles is stupid and a total waste of money is not true either. Lighting $795 on fire on the hottest day of the summer, is a total waste of money. As many on this site seemingly argue to the death, the market will bear what something is worth.....so if people are paying $795 to drive these cars around for a day, then it is obviously worth more than "a couple hundred dollars at the most" as you claim to be the case, yes? They are rental cars if you pay to rent them. You came up with that connotation, not me. I didnt come up with it. It is something that society comes up with. As you are a member of this society and I am a member of this society, then when rental cars are discussed, the connotation is negative for both of us. You dont get to pick connotations in life. Thats why brides typically dont wear red to wedding ceremonies, that's why GW doesnt typically wear cowboy hats and six shooters to press conferences....this is a silly thing to even discuss, you are going to go highbrow, passing judgement on people's choice to spend money on this venture, but then you are going to play dumb to your own tactics in defending your position? Please......
